School Ethos
Tankerstown National School, a Roman Catholic School, (which is established in connection with the Minister) aims at promoting the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the person of each pupil – intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual including a living relationship with God and with other people. Our school models and promotes a philosophy of life inspired by a belief in God and in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As a Catholic school we provide Religious Education for the pupils in accordance with the doctrines, practices and tradition of the Roman Catholic Church and promote the formation of the pupils in the Catholic Faith.
Relationships with Parents
The school recognises that parents have a primary role and responsibility in the education of their children. Parents are therefore encouraged to:
be actively involved in the life of the school
be involved and support the work of the Parent’s Association
develop and support home-school links in a spirit of trust and cooperation
ensure that their children respect and co-operate with the school staff in developing the full potential of their children
work in partnership with and support of the Principal and school staff to give all children a positive educational experience
